Oregon DMV Point System: How does it Work?

The Oregon Driver and Motor Vehicle Services Division do not associate points with traffic tickets. However, accumulating tickets will result in a license restriction or suspension. So, even without a point system to monitor drivers, Oregon DMV will still take away driving privileges. Oregon uses the Driver Improvement Program (DIP) to monitor provisional license holders.

The DIP penalties are similar to the point system used in other states. Repeat offenders receive harsh punishments. The more tickets you get, the less time you have behind the wheels. Here are some restrictions that will apply to offenders who receive multiple violations.
