Reading Time: 2 minutes

Your driving records, or BMV records, is the state’s collection of your driving history. Your driving history can include anything from a vehicle’s registration, convictions, and license status to point violations like from unpaid tickets and more.

Others may request your records like employers, law enforcement, insurance companies, and others.

Getting your MO driver’s records can be done online, in-person, and by mail. This short article shares how you can request driving records from the Missouri Department of Revenue and Licensing Division.

Getting Your Missouri Driving Records: Step-by-Step

Missouri offers different record types:

  • Without personal information – Documents share traffic and driving-related information
  • With personal information – Documents include everything from traffic to contact details

Fees for the driving history report includes:

  • Driving record: $2.82
    • If faxed: Add $0.50
    • If processed in-person: $2

You can request these documents through the Missouri DOR to get official, certified documents. Or, use third-party providers to get unofficial MO driver documents. These third-party providers can save time and hassle when getting your driver information.

Below, you’ll learn how to request official documents through the MO BMV.

Driver Record Request in Person, By Mail, Fax, or Email

The driver record request is essentially the same process minus how it’s submitted.

  1. Download and fill out the Request from Record Holder (DOR-4681) form
    1. Sign and notarize the form
  2. Pay for the records or include a check or money order
  3. Process the forms to a DOR office, mail, email, or fax them

If mailing the request – send items to:

Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing Division

301 West High Street Room 470

Jefferson City, MO 65101

You may email them to [email protected] or fax them to 573-526-7367.

You should receive your records within a week or two of them being processed.

Requesting Records of Others

You may request other drivers’ records given you’re doing so as a govt agent, verifying information for criminal/civil legal actions, are an insurance agent, or doing a background check. You’ll include the driver’s name, license number, and date of birth when processing the request.

You may need to file a Request for Social Access Code (DOR-4678) if requesting driver documents including their personal information. This gives an access code, once approved, letting you access the driver’s information.
