If you need to obtain your driving records in Georgia, you will have to pay a visit to the Georgia DDS in person or online. Your Driving History Report, also known as a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) provides a history of all your violations, accidents, and tickets issued over the past few years. It is very similar to a credit report, and employers, attorneys, or insurance companies may request your driving records for screening from the DDS for verification and legal purposes.

Types of Georgia Driving Records

The DDS offers two types of driving records provided in different forms. You are only allowed to request a 3-year or 7-year history. Here are two the types you can get from the DDS:

  • Non-Certified MVR that can be viewed online. This report cannot be submitted to an employer, attorney, or insurance company.
  • Certified MVRs, which cannot be viewed online. This report is printed and mailed to you. Certified copies are usually needed for insurance companies, attorneys, and employers
